Welcome!
My name is Kristi, and I am a pastor's wife, a former public school teacher, and a stay-at-home mom of seven children - two on Earth and five in Heaven.
As a Christian homeschooling mom and homemaker, I write for women like myself who could use encouragement as they go against the tide of today's world in their desire to serve their families, embrace their femininity, and grow in their faith.
Against this backdrop, one of the main areas where I share my heart is in the area of loss, especially our children in Heaven, who we lost in first and second-trimester miscarriages. They are the inspiration for our pregnancy loss ministry, Naomi's Circle, and their brief lives were the catalyst for my search for God's goodness in the midst of the messes of life this side of Heaven, and what I have found on that journey is transforming my marriage, my mothering, my ministry, and my mission. That ongoing transformation is what I share here, in the hope that maybe what God is doing in my heart could also be what is doing in yours. |
My writing tends to center around parenting, homeschooling, and pregnancy and infant loss (plus a few other topics), but those are just the backdrop, the canvas on which God use my doubts and questions and pain to point me toward truth and character and growth ... when I let Him.
I was asked once WHO my ideal reader is, and who I am writing for, and this is what came to mind:
My Ideal Reader is ....
a woman
a wife (or not)
a mother (or not)
who is struggling
...with how she sees herself
...and how she sees God
who questions
...what God expects of her
...why God allows some things to happen
...and how she will ever survive this phase in her life
who is seeking
...for solid footing on which she can stand
...for clear direction on how to lead her children
...for strength to stand by her man
...for courage to be who God made her to be
...for truth to guide her decisions
...and for passion and purpose to infuse her days with meaning
who finds crazy joy
...in her husband
...in her kids
...in meals that turn out the way they are supposed to
...in the fun of a new hairstyle or fashion statement
...in days that do not go as planned but end up better than she dreamed
...in catching glimpses of God-moments when today and eternity intersect
...in going against the flow going and finding fellow traveler travelers doing the same thing
My ideal reader is probably a lot like me.
Does this sound like you? Want to join me on this adventure? Scroll down to subscribe to my blog or like my Facebook page, and I promise that you will not miss a thing. As an extra thank you for trusting me with your time on the Internet, I will also send you my ebook "Dear mom of a baby in Heaven." And drop me a line to introduce yourself, too! It makes this life journey so much easier when we know who's on the road with us. I'm honored that you stopped by and I hope we will see a lot more of each other!
